Confidence

Many of the clients that come to me are struggling at some level with confidence.

Confidence is defined as:

  • a feeling of one's powers,

  • a belief that one will act in a right, proper, or effective way,

  • a state of being certain.

So, how do we get this confidence?

How do we create this feeling of being certain that we will step into our power and act in the way we want to?

I believe it has to do with how comfortable we are with ourselves, with how deeply we accept and love ourselves.

When I can accept who I am, my strengths, my weaknesses, my quirks and my amazingness, there comes an element of calm.

Now, this acceptance and comfort doesn't mean that I think I'm perfect as I am and that I don't want to continue to grow and progress.

But it does mean that I am happy with the path I'm on, that I recognize I'm doing some great (or even just some good) things.

I know that I'm really trying to show up the best I can, even if my best is sometimes pretty flawed.

With all that, I am comfortable with who I am, I'm comfortable with the path I'm choosing, and I'm comfortable with my dreams and desires.

When I can find this level of comfort, then I can start to step into my own power and create what I want in my life.

I'm settled into, and accepting who I am and who I am becoming.

I see the path behind me and the path in front of me and I'm really comfortable with where I am on that path.

So, rather than seeing confidence as this huge, unattainable, big-idea concept, let's try to step into a place of self-compassion.

A place of compassion that says, 'I'm doing okay.  I've walked a hard path, and I still have a ways to go, but I'm doing it.  I'm moving forward.  And I'm really proud of how far I've come and that I just keep trying.'

This space of accepting and loving ourselves and our journey past, present, and future, this space of really being comfortable with who we are, where we've been, and where we're going, is this elusive confidence that everyone speaks of.

What can you love about you and your path today?

How can you be more compassionate about your life's journey?

How can you be more comfortable being you today?

Your life is amazing and unique.

It is not meant to be compared to anyone else's life.

It has been given to you, and you alone, and being comfortable with how you are showing up on your own path will help you feel the confidence to continue to show up.
